Talk about Neuroplasticity by Dr.Lara Boyd

Dr. Boyd is giving a talk about neuroplasticity and at Douglas College. If you would like to attend please go on the link below and register. The talks will be similar so you will only need to attend one and I believe they are free of charge.

Signs and Symptoms of a Stroke and More (DL)

Stroke is a medical emergency. Do you know the five symptoms of stroke?  Recognizing and responding immediately to the warning signs of a stroke can significantly improve survival and recovery.

Learn directly from top physicians about the symptoms of a stroke and the BC Stroke Strategy. Also, hear about their work on neuroplasticity, rehabilitation and rapid assessment clinics.

Dr. Laura Boyd is Canada Research Chair in Neurobiology of Motor Learning, Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Scholar, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Brain Research Centre at the University of British Columbia. She is also an associate editor for the Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy.

Dr. Jennifer Yao is a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the G.F. Strong Rehab Centre. She is the medical manager of the Acquired Brain injury program and the chair of the Stroke Rehabilitation and Community Reintegration Workgroup within the BC Stroke Strategy.

Dr. Kennely Ho is a neurologist practicing out of New Westminster. He is affiliated with the Royal Columbian Hospital where, until recently, he was the Head of the Neurosciences Department. He is keenly interested in stroke prevention and care, and has done a fellowship in stroke, as well as clinical trials and helps with the organization of stroke services at RCH and Fraser Health. He is the physician stroke lead for Fraser Health's Stroke Strategy.
